New Post: Copying seed of a single affix & related

Hi! New here and not finding the answer I'm looking for through search so...

The question I have at the moment is how to copy one affix from one item to another. I know in the FAQ it mentions that if you want a specific result you copy and paste the seed of that affix, but I'm not finding how to do that. I can copy/paste the whole item, but my understanding (which may be wrong) is that other changes I would make to the item won't re-roll without duplicating (again, if I misunderstood that, please clarify and correct me :) ).

For example, let's us attack speed. I currently have a balefire caster with 20% attack speed. However, at level 70 (with a few paragon levels) it's falling behind the damage curve. It currently has item level 55 and legendary level 60. I know I can bump those both to 70 and it should increase the overall damage of the weapon. I also want to boost it's fire damage range, which I can easily change. Now, if I duplicate the item, the attack speed will likely reroll and I may not get the 20% max. If I copy and paste it I get a carbon copy of the weapon (still not sure if the affixes I bump up would actually change). Let's say I duplicate it and reroll the whole thing. Now, could I copy just the attack speed affix from one to the other to guarantee the value at 20%?

SO I guess my questions are:
  1. Can I copy one affix/seed from an item to another item to ensure the exact same value?
  2. If so, How? (pretend I'm a moron)
  3. When making changes to an item (item level, legend level, affix ranges), is duplicating it the only way to definitely see changes in the stats or did I misinterpret that?
Thank you for your patience and answers.
